Vera Lou Dooley, 74, of 111 Thomas Jefferson died of kidney failure Wednesday, Aug. 6, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.
Memorial services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Evangelical Free Church in Baxter with the Rev. Eugene Bucklin officiating. Burial will be at McKeever Cemetery in rural Baxter. Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton is handling arrangements. A coffee time and visitation with the family will follow the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials will be accepted in her name.
The daughter of Raymond and Ida Gertrude (Terrell) Bonnett, she was born March 21, 1929, in Bussey. She attended Bussey High School. On Jan. 7, 1950, she married Robert Dooley in Newton. She was a cook at a restaurant in Colfax, Methodist Hospital in Des Moines and USA Health Care-Newton and Careage of Newton nursing homes. She retired in 1993. Mrs. Dooley attended Evangelical Free Church in Baxter.
Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie and Larry Morgan, Pamela and Kenny Tague and Tamyie and Blake Kingery, all of Newton; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Dale and Elizabeth Bonnett of Osceola; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Pauline Doublestein of Michigan, Betty and Bill Sharpe and Janice Modde, all of Des Moines, and Joan and LeRoy De Reus of Newton.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a great-granddaughter, four sisters and two brothers.
