MISSION, Texas - Russell James Callison, 89, of Mission, Texas, formerly of Newton, died Friday, Sept. 5.
A memorial service is planned. The body has been cremated. Memorials may be sent to his wife, Margueritte Callison, 3131 N. Conway No. 59, Mission, Texas 78592.
He worked for the Newton City Water Department for 27 years and served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post III and the 40/8 of Newton. He also was a member of the Elks Lodge 1402 of McAllen, Texas.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Roger W. Callison of Des Moines and Robert J. Callison of Austin, Texas; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Mary Callison, his step-mother, Ollie and three sisters.
