COLFAX – Harold Edward "Harry" Brenner, 51, of Colfax died Tuesday, Aug. 5, at Mercy Hospice in Johnston.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Howard Street Christian Church in Colfax with the Rev. Paul Elliott and the Rev. David McNealey officiating. Burial will be at McKeever Cemetery in Colfax. Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax is handling arrangements.
Friends may call after noon Friday at the funeral home where the family will be available from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials will be accepted in his name and may be left at the funeral home.
The son of Harold Theodore and Janice Magdeline (Roeder) Brenner, he was born May 10, 1952, in Parkston, S.D. He graduated from Woonsocket, S.D., high school. On June 21, 1975, he married Robin Nichol in Colfax. He was the maintenance director for Johnsrud Trucking Co.
Mr. Brenner was a member of the Howard Street Christian Church, a soccer coach and referee, Cub Scout leader for Pack 345; scoutmaster, a member of Colfax Jaycees, Little League baseball coach and an umpire. He received the safety award from the Iowa Motor Truck Association and also was a member of the Detroit Diesel Guild. He served in the United States Navy and was a resident of Colfax since 1975.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Travis Brenner of Colfax; a daughter, Nichole Brenner of Mitchellville; a brother, Scott Brenner of Gilbert, S.D.; three sisters, Patricia Merriman of Carrington, S.D., Cheryl Kahle of Woonsocket, S.D., and Nancy Wibeto of Mesa, Ariz.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a niece and his father-in-law.
