She was very cheerful and patient all through her sickness and when the end came she was ready to go.

Carrie spend most of her life in Jasper Co., in and near Newton, Newberg and Baxter. In 1890, she became a member of the United Brethren church near Newberg, of which she was a faithful member and Sunday school teacher. In 1893 she moved with her parents from Newberg to Baxter where she met and married Mr. Jontz. She has always been very industrious and cheerful, and will be greatly missed in her home, and by her parents and relatives, beside a large circle of friends. The funeral was held Monday at eleven o’clock, in the Christian church of Baxter, conducted by Rev. G. L. Shull, pastor of the Congregational church, and was attended by a large audience of sympathizing friends. The body was laid to rest in the Bridge cemetery in Newton township. She leaves a husband and two small children, father, mother, four sisters and one brother to mourn the loss of an affectionate wife, mother, daughter and sister. ~ Newton Journal, September 29, 1897.
