Obituary

Edmond Bridges died Jan. 23, 1894 age 37 years, 5 months and 14 days. He was born in Hart county, Kentucky, Aug. 11th, 1856, in October with his parents removed to Jasper county, Ia., where he resided till the year of 1876. He was united in marriage to Alice Rumbaugh, the result of this union was two boys and one girl, two died in their infancy, and one son survives to mourn the loss of a dear father, and his best friend on earth. Edmond had been going down since last June with consumption, brain and spinal trouble, which was the cause of death so soon. He lived 12 days after he took his bed; he was unconscious most of nine days; he suffered a great deal during that time. All was done that could be done by the physicians, mother, sisters and brother, but all of no avail. He died at the home of his mother in Kellogg, twp. Where he had made his home since his health began to fail. The funeral services were held at the school house six miles northwest of Newton, conducted by Rev. brooks of the M. E. church. The remains were laid in the family cemetery to wait the coming resurrection.

Another one from us is gone.
A voice of loved is stilled
A place is vacant in our home
That can never more be filled.
