Mildred Marie Kleinschrodt, 102, of Newton died Saturday, Oct. 22, 2005, in the Monarch Wing of Skiff Medical Center in Newton.

Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton with the Rev. Gene Bryant officiating. Burial will be at Newton Memorial Park Cemetery.

Friends may call after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, where the family will be present from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Memorials will be accepted to the First Christian Church or Hospice of Jasper County.

The daughter of Myron Walter Haight and Viola Lucretia Street, she was born Nov. 11, 1903, in Valley Junction. On Nov. 21, 1921, she married William Franklin Kleinschrodt in Valley Junction. She was a telephone operator and also worked for Spurgeons and Masons Café. She lived throughout the Midwest and moved to Newton in 1948. She enjoyed volunteering, crocheting, Iowa Hawkeye football and Newton Cardinal football.

Survivors include two daughters, Phyllis (Jim) Wilson of Orlando, Fla., and Evelyn Maxwell of West Des Moines; a daughter-in-law, Phyllis Kleinschrodt of Newton; 10 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sons, Keith and Harold Kleinschrodt; a son-in-law, Malcom Maxwell; and a brother in infancy.
