COLFAX – Leland M. Reed, 88, of Colfax died Wednesday, June 18, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax with Pastor Syd McCrorey of the Community Heights Alliance Church officiating. Burial will be at Colfax Cemetery.

Friends may call today at the funeral home where the family will be available from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Memorials will be accepted to Hospice of Jasper County.

The son of Frank and Martha (McGrew) Reed, he was born July 6, 1914, in Council Bluffs. On Dec. 7, 1940, he married Dorothy Klein in Lovilia. He worked in a coalmine and was employed by the Maytag Corporation in the die cast department. Mr. Reed was a member of the UAW and the American Legion. He lived in Bussey and became a resident of Colfax in 1956.

Survivors include his wife; three sons and daughters-in-law, Dick and Pam Reed of Colfax, tom and Aliceson Reed of Ellijay, Ga., and Harry and Cheryl Reed of Colfax; one daughter, Donna McCorkle of Knoxville; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Tom of Erie, ill., Donald of Bussey, and Fred of Des Moines.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, three sisters and two brothers.
