R. Kent Knudson, 52, of 1104 S. 14th Ave. W. died of heart failure Wednesday, July 16, at his home.

Funeral services will be held Sunday at 4 p.m. at Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton with the Rev. Mary Schnepf, associate pastor of the First United Methodist Church in Newton. Burial will be at Newton Union Cemetery.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home where the family will be available from 5 to 7 p.m. Memorials will be accepted in his name.

The son of Robert L. and Geneva H. (Cowden) Knudson, he was born April 15, 1952, in Corydon. He was a graduate of Wayne Community High School in Corydon. He attended Drake University for three years.

On Dec. 31, 1985, he married Darcy D. Shaw in Chicago, Ill. He was an executive for "Ads R Us" in Des Moines and was a member of the First United Methodist Church and co-chairman of the Jasper County Republican Party.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Robert M. J. Knudson and William F. R. Knudson, both of Newton; one daughter, Anna Patricia "Trisha" Joseph of Iowa City; a sister and brother-in-law, Karen C. and Denny Kingsley of Dubuque; a brother and sister-in-law, Jim M. and Kelly Knudson of Ocala, Fla.; and his parents of Des Moines.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
