INDIANA - Davey Charles Butler, 52, of southern Indiana, formerly of Jasper County, died Wednesday, June 18, of lymphoma and lung cancer at Norton Hospital in Louisville, Ky.

Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Baxter Congregational United Church of Christ. Burial will be at Restland Cemetery in Baxter at a later date.

The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Masonic Lodge in Baxter. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to The American Cancer Society or the Baxter Congregational United Church of Christ.

The son of Max and Lela Butler of Baxter, he was born Feb. 5, 1951, in Marshalltown. He was raised in Baxter, where he graduated from Baxter High School in 1969. He was a Newton Daily News carrier for eight years. He worked as a data processing analyst from the Maytag Corporation in Newton from 1969 to 1984, when he was transferred to Jenn-Air, a subsidiary of Maytag, in Indianapolis, Ind. He worked at Jenn-Air from 1984 through 1994.

Mr. Butler lived in southern Indiana from 1994 until his death. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening.

Survivors include his partner, Evelyn Judd; two sons and daughters-in-law, Chris and Amy Butler of Urbandale and Kevin and Shari Butler of Waukee; a grandson; his parents; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Dan and Carolyn Butler of Stanley, N.M., and Jack and Peanut Butler of Dubuque; and six first cousins; five nieces; and two nephews.
