Lola M. Bergeson, 75, of 752 S. 44th Ave. E. died Tuesday, June 17, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the new Community Heights Alliance
Church, 2500 S. 13th Ave. E. in Newton, with Dr. Gary Benedict of St. Bonifacius, Minn., officiating. Burial will be at Palo Alto Cemetery in rural Newton. Wallace Family Funeral Home is handling arrangements.Friends may call after 4 p.m. Thursday at the old Community Heights Alliance Church, 1000 E. 12th St. S. in Newton, where the family will be available from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials will be accepted to Hospice of Jasper County, Newton Christian School or to the Community Heights Alliance Church. Memorials may be left at the church at the times of visitation and service or at the funeral home.
The daughter of Bert A. and Bella G. (Olson) Arneson, she was born March 19, 1928, in Roland. She was a graduate of Ellsworth High School in Ellsworth and attended Lutheran Bible College in Fergus Falls, Minn. On Nov. 2, 1952, she married Richard P. "Dick" Bergeson in Blairsburg and was a homemaker.
Mrs. Bergeson was a member of the Community Heights Alliance Church. She grew up in Story City, lived in Ellsworth from 1945 to 1952, and in Ames from 1952 to 1956, when she moved to the Newton area.
Survivors include her husband; a son and daughter-in-law, John and Sharon Bergeson of Runnells; three daughters and sons-in-law, Sue and Merlan Rolffs of Pella, Nancy and Ron Jackson of Bell, Fla., and Karen and Andy Albers of Grinnell; 13 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Eugene and Arlene Arneson of Tucson, Ariz., and Carroll and Dee Arneson of Ellsworth; and a sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Hanson of Roland.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a granddaughter; and a brother, Lawrence Arneson.
