Cecil Goforth, Former Newton Resident, Dies

Cecil V. Goforth, 69, of 3303 50th, Des Moines, a resident of Newton until 1962, died Monday at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Merle Hay Chapel on Merle Hay Road.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 12 noon today.

Survivors are his wife, Darlene; a daughter, Mrs. Jack (Glennis) Nittler of Des Moines; a son, Dean Goforth of Des Moines; six grandchildren, a brother, Marion Goforth of Des Moines; and four sisters, Mrs. George (Mozelle) Trigg of Cape Giradeau, Mo., Mrs. George (Ruth) Freed of Yreka, Calif., Mrs. Leo (Lela) Winchell of Newotn and Mrs. Al (Betty) Hicks of East Moline, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

The son of Frank and Ada Goforth, he was born Feb. 14, 1909.

He was married to Darlene Walsh Oct 6, 1953. ~ The Newton Daily News, March 8, 1978.
