Mary M. Lanphier Dies Thursday; Rites Saturday

Mrs. Norman (Mary Margaret) Lanphier, 42, of Rt. 2, Newton, a lifelong resident of Newton, died Thursday afternoon at the Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Loehr Funeral Chapel.

The Rev. H. Eugene Cedarholm, pastor of the First Lutheran Church, will conduct the services. Burial will be in Newton Union Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. today.

Survivors are her husband, Norman; two daughters, Deborah and Mrs. Craig (Roseanne) Schrader; four sisters, Martha Mulleneaux of Newton, Mrs. Myrna Twedt of Ames, Mrs. Susan Daugherty of Martensdale and Mrs. Sharon Burton of Newton; and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Mulleneaux of Newton.

Mrs. Lanphier was a member of the First Lutheran Church. She had been employed in the marketing department of the Maytag Co.

The daughter of William and Margaret Richards Mulleneaux, she was born July 31, 1929 in Colfax and attended Newton schools.

She was married to Norman Lanphier Jan. 2, 1945 in Killduff. ~ The Newton Daily News, August 6, 1971
