Enoch H. Rexroat

Enoch H. Rexroat, 82, 1126 W. 7th St. S., a longtime resident of Jasper County, died of heart failure this morning, March 29, at Heritage Manor.

Burial at Palo Alto Cemetery will be held at a later date.

Friends may call at the Wallace-Pence Funeral Home from 3 to 6 p.m. Monday.

There will be no funeral services.

Memorials in his name may be left at the funeral home.

Survivors are his wife, Helen, three sons and daughters-in-law, Harold and Cheryl of Tacoma, Wash., Ron and Louis of Johnston and James and Deb of Kauai, Hawaii; two daughters, Joyce (Mrs. Jim) Conley of Newton and Joane (Mrs. Dave) Cline of Sully; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Richard and Leonard, and five sisters, Mary, Grace, Alice, Helen and Sarah.

Mr. Rexroat was employed for 23 years at the Maytag Co., retiring from automatic assembly in 1975.

Mr. Rexroat, who enjoyed horse racing, was a member of the United Auto Workers Retirees Union, Local 997.

The son of Kemper S. and Rachel Benjamin Rexroat, he was born March 30, 1913 at Metz and was educated in Newton schools.

He resided in Kellogg from 1947 until 1962 when he moved to Newton.

He was married to Helen G. McWhirter Aug. 11, 1940 in the Newton area. ~ The Newton Daily News, March 29, 1996.
