Baxter – Lillian McWhirter, 80, of Baxter died Wednesday, Aug. 1, at her home.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 9 a.m. at the Baxter Congregational United Church of Christ with the Rev. Rollin Watters officiating.

Burial will be at Restland Cemetery in Baxter. Boyd-Davis Funeral Home in Baxter is handling arrangements.

Friends may call today at the funeral home from 5 to 9 p.m. where the family will be available from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Memorials will be accepted to the Baxter Fire and Rescue.

The daughter of Edward and Alice Brown Robinette, she was born Feb. 25, 1921, in Brumley, Mo. She was raised and educated in Marshall County where she graduated from Van Cleeve High School. On Aug 14, 1940, she married Robert Wilson McWhirter in Eldora. She spent her life raising her family and talking care of her home. Mrs. McWhirter was a resident of Baxter for more than 50 years.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law. Robert and Sam of Baxter and Gene and Kathie of Mount Pleasant; four daughters and two sons-in-law, Phyllis and Larry Ballard of Newton, Sharon and Tom DeWitt of Rogersville, Mo., Lauri Imburgia of Cherry Hill, J. J., and Linda McWhirter of Baxter; a brother and sister-in-law, Dale and Donna Robinette of Tama, and three sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law, Clarice and Dave Trotter of Newton, Alice and Ron Trotter of Brainard, Minn., and Helen Rexroat of Pella; 11 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a daughter. ~ The Newton Daily News, August 2 or 3, 2001.
