Samuel E. Jones, Former Resident of Colfax, Dies

Colfax, (Special) – Samuel E. Jones, 65, Osage, Minn., resort owner and former Colfax resident, died Saturday at Park Rapids, Minn. Death was attributed to a heart attack.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. at the Colfax Baptist church, with the Rev. Bernard Waage, pastor of the church, officiating. Burial will be at the Colfax cemetery.

The body will lie in state at Bumgardner Funeral Home in Colfax until the time of the services.

Survivors include his wife, Sadie; a daughter, Mrs. Vernon Evans of Colfax; a son, Edwin Jones of Colfax; three sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Davis of Colfax, Mrs. Margaret Cline of Des Moines and Mrs. Faye Beals of Mingo; and four grandchildren.

Mr. Jones was a resident of Colfax until seven years ago when he moved to Minnesota to enter the resort business.

Born in Colfax July 29, 1888, he was educated in Colfax schools and was married to Sadie McWhirter June 9, 1912 in Colfax. ~ The Newton (Iowa) Daily News, May 17, 1954.
