Doris Ann Trent, 47, of Newton died of cancer Sunday, June 15, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.

Memorial graveside services will be held Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at the Newton Union Cemetery with the Rev. Merle Smith, chaplain of Skiff Medical Center, officiating. Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton is handling arrangements.

Friends may call today at the funeral home where the family will be available from 6 to 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials will be accepted to the Congregational United Church of Christ or to Mayo Clinic.

The daughter of Paul C. Davis and Patty Ann Repp, she was born Nov. 24, 1955, in Newton. She graduated from Newton Senior High School in 1974. She completed CNA training. On May 7, 1977, she married Timothy Trent in Newton. She was a food server at Park Centre and worked as a nurse’s aid at area nursing homes. She was a member of the Congregational Church and enjoyed cooking, crafts and HGTV and spending time with her granddaughter.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Jeffrey Trent of Newton; a daughter and son-in-law, Angie and Brock Patterson of Newton; a grandchild; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Rhonda and Patrick Cupples and Tina Davis, all of Newton; and her father and step-mother, Paul and Alice Davis of Albia.

She was preceded in death by her mother.
