Gertrude Marilyn Weyers, 82, passed away at Pella Regional Health Center on Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2021.
A family funeral service was held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 13, at Garden Chapel Funeral Home in Pella. Memorials may be given to Monroe Fire and Rescue.
Marilyn was born May 16, 1939, to Marion and Gertrude (Bezemer) Van Houweling in Pella.
Marilyn was a 1958 graduate of Pella Community High School. May 13, 1959, she was united in marriage with Theodore Carl Weyers at the First Reformed Church in Pella. They lived on a farm outside of Newton until the fall of 1959 and then moved to a farm in rural Otley, where she currently resided. They were blessed with four children: Linda, Craig, David, and Bryan.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children: Linda (Junior) De Jong of Lynnville, Craig Weyers of Billings, MT, David (Kristy) Weyers of Monroe, and Bryan Weyers of Monroe; eight grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. Marilyn is also survived by her sister Ardith Robertson of Albert Lea, MN; her brother Carl Van Houweling of Pella; and siblings-in-law: Thelma Shampine, Mary Hoover, Imogene White, Kay (Roland) Law, and Janet (Steve) Foster.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband Carl; her parents; her parents-in-law Theodore and Emma Weyers; her sisters Julie (Jake) Vos and Mary (Marion) Heemstra; her brothers Paul (Margaret) Van Houweling and Gerald (Margery) Van Houweling; her grandsons Tanner Weyers and Eric Weyers; her great-grandsons Collin De Vries and Drake Carl Weyers; and her siblings-in-law R.J. Robertson, Marlyn Van Houweling, Chuck Shampine, Bill Hoover, Lloyd White, Carroll Weyers, and Helen Springer.
