KELLOGG - Doris M. Wheatcraft, 100, formerly of Kellogg died of heart failure Friday, May 30, at Nelson Manor Health Center in Newton.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at the Pence-Reese Funeral Home, 310 E. 2nd Ave. N., with the Rev. Mike Johnson of Carlisle officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Zion Cemetery in rural Newton.

Friends may call after noon Monday until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials will be accepted to the Kellogg Christian Church or Nelson Manor Health Care Center.

The daughter of Charles and Ida Mae (Adams) Hill, she was born Sept. 24, 1902, in Jasper County. She graduated from Grinnell Senior High School in 1921.

On July 2, 1925, she married Howard Wheatcraft in Montezuma. She worked as an office clerk and secretary for Midwest Manufacturing in Kellogg for more than 30 years. After that, she worked as a cook for the Kellogg schools.

She was a member of the Kellogg Christian Church, a lifelong member of the Kellogg Garden Club and a past Kellogg Eastern Star member. She lived all her life in Kellogg.

Survivors include several nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son, Kenneth, two brothers, Floyd and Clarence Hill, and a sister, Lena Ferguson.
