CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – Mable Marie Runyan Pickles, 90, of Chattanooga, Tenn., formerly of Jasper County, died Nov. 21, 2002, in Chattanooga.

Memorial services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Colfax United Methodist Church with Pastor Jill Flyr officiating. Burial of the cremated remains will be at Colfax Cemetery prior to the memorial service. There will be no visitation. Walters Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax is handling arrangements.

The daughter of Lanar and Lena (Crete Henderson) Runyan, she was born Sept. 11, 1912, in Ira. She married James Walter Pickles on Feb. 2, 1934, in Colfax. She worked as a waitress at various restaurants in Colfax before joining DeVere Cleveland at the Gambles store in Colfax as a clerk. Toward the end of her career, she worked at the Polk County Home in Des Moines. She was active in her church, The First United Methodist Church in Colfax, and helped organize the Colfax Senior Citizens and served as president several times.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, LeRoy James and Jean Pickles; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, an infant son and, infant daughter.
