Lela Francis (Stratton) Pershall, 87, of Baxter, died Wednesday, May 14, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Christian Church in Maxwell with the Rev. Tom Lee officiating. Burial will be at Collins Evergreen Cemetery in Collins. Bacon-Cooper Funeral Home in Maxwell is handling arrangements.

Friends may call Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home, where the family will be available.

The daughter of Isiah Edwin Stratton and Eunice Elsie Cummings, she was born Nov. 18, 1915, in rural Maxwell. She graduated from Collins High School in 1933. On Dec. 20, 1935, she married Raymond Winfred Pershall. She and her husband lived on a farm west of Baxter for many years. Upon retirement, they moved to Maxwell, where they were members of the Maxwell Christian Church. Mrs. Pershall was active in the women's club and enjoyed gardening, reading and spending time with her family. They moved to Baxter five years ago to be near family and friends.

Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Eunice Joan Bunkofske of Cedar Falls, Linda Calvin of Baxter and Mary Kay Pershall of Melbourne, Australia; two sons-in-law, James Bunkoffske and John Hornshaw; a sister, Alma Wayland of Cedar Rapids; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Ila, a brother, Ralph, and son-in-law, Jack Calvin.
