Helen 1. (McDaniel) Long, 81, of Newton died Monday, May 5, at Heritage Manor Care Center in Newton. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton with Chaplain Merle Smith of Skiff Medical Center in Newton officiating. Burial will be at Newton Union Cemetery.

Friends may call from 8:30 p.m. until the time of the service Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials will be accepted to the Heritage Manor Activities Fund and may be left at the funeral home.

The daughter of Edward E and Myrtle E. (Parker) McDaniel, she was born Dec. 16, 1921, in Newton. She was a graduate of Newton Senior High School in 1940. On Nov. 26, 1942, she married Charles J. Long in Newton. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband; a sister, Betty White of Newton and sister-in-law, Jane McDaniel, of Newton.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.
