ANKENY – Richard H. Coomer, 68, of Ankeny, formerly of Kellogg, died Sunday, May 18, at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines.

Graveside services will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at Our Silent City Cemetery in Kellogg with Walt Claussen officiating. Family and friends will gather at the cemetery prior to the service.

Friends may call after 5 p.m. Wednesday at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton where the family will be available from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials will be accepted to the Sunny View Care Center and may be left at the funeral home.

The son of Harvey "Jack" and Violet (Owens) Coomer, he was born Nov. 28, 1934, in Kellogg. He lived in Kellogg from 1934 to 1989 and in Ankeny from 1989 to the present.

Survivors include a sister and brother-in-law, Helen P. and Ramon Heckert of Urbandale; and a nephew and two nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
