Wilbur Edmund Chamberlain, 79, of No. 11 Bungalow Court died of cancer Wednesday, May 28, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.

Memorial graveside services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at the Newton Union Cemetery. Pence-Reese Funeral Home, 310 N. 2nd Ave. E., is handling arrangements.

No visitation is planned. In lieu of flowers memorials will be accepted to the American Cancer Society.

The son of Floyd and Lettie (Shepphard) Chamberlain, he was born May 18, 1924, in Exline. He attended school in Exline and Ottumwa. He served in the United States Navy during World War II.

On March 26, 1946, he married Betty Maddy in Lovilia. He worked for Parsons and for Midwest Manufacturing as a design engineer for eight years. He retired in 1985.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Steven Edward of Rhodes and Bob Price of Franklin, Tenn.; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Roy Chamberlain of Nashville, Tenn.; and a sister, Juanita Ballalatak of Albia.
