A. Evelyn Byers, 95, of 500 1st St. N. died Tuesday, May 27, at Park Centre in Newton.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, June 21, at 10 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Newton with the Rev. David Wendel officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Fargo, N.D. Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton is handling arrangements.

Memorials will be accepted to the First United Methodist Church or to Park Centre Retirement Community.

The daughter of Anton and Ann (Streen) Myhra, she was born Oct. 26, 1907, in Fargo, N.D. On March 31, 1924, she married Charley K. Byers in Moorhead, Minn. She was a homemaker and lived and reared her family in New London. Mrs. Byers was a member of the First United Methodist Church and Eastern Star and was a resident of Newton for more than 30 years.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Donald C. and Doris K. Byers of Newton; a daughter-in-law, Nancy G. Byers of Medina, Wash.; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Thomas G. Byers; two brothers, Arnold Myhra and Harold Myhra; and a sister, Florence Iverson.
