DES MOINES — Albert Dwaine Rawlins, 82, of Des Moines, formerly of Newton, died of congestive heart failure Sunday, Oct. 9, 2005, at CLC Altoona.

The family will gather Wednesday at Grandview Park Funeral Home, where a visitation will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. with a service at 4 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the family.

The son of Albert J. and Georgia (Darrah) Rawlins, he was born in Williamson and grew up in Chariton. He lived in Newton and Waterloo before moving to Bondurant in 1988.

He enjoyed hard work and held many jobs through the years, including the R and S Truck Stop in Waterloo and the Radio City Mobile Home Park in Des Moines as manager. Eight years ago, he became a security officer at Adventureland and retired in April.

He enjoyed word puzzles and country music, visiting Branson and Prairie Meadows and visiting with his friends at Bosselman's Travel Plaza.

He is survived by a daughter, Sharon Rawlins of Bondurant; son, Albert L. Rawlins of Grover, Okla.; three sisters, Barbara McCormick and Dorothy Johnson of Chariton and Marjorie Querry of DeKalb, Ill.; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen; daughter, Nina; parents; two brothers, Dwight and Richard Rawlins; and sister, Betty Johnson.
