GRINNELL — Dennis E. Moore Sr., 62, of Grinnell died Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2005, at his home in Grinnell.

A private family service will be held at Hazelwood Cemetery in Grinnell. Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell handled arrangements. Memorials may be directed to the Mercy Hospital Children's Dialysis Unit and sent in care of the Smith Funeral Home, P.O. Box 368, Grinnell 50112.

The son of Elbert and Cecilia (Robinson) Moore, he was born Feb. 20, 1943, in Burlington. The family later moved to Monroe, where he graduated from Monroe High School in 1961. He married Hedy Smith in Omaha, Neb. The couple lived in various areas before moving to Monroe, and he worked for the Maytag Company in Newton for 20 years. He was a resident of Grinnell for the past year.

Survivors include his wife, Hedy Moore of Grinnell; his children and their spouses, Kerry (Marcy) Moore of Grinnell, Holly (Greg) Shelford of Knoxville, Laurie Moore of Monroe and Dennis (Heather) Moore Jr. of Grinnell; nine grandchildren; and one sister, Elsie Foster of Monroe.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Nancy VerHeul and a grandson.
