KILLDUFF – Linda Jones Smith, 49, of Killduff died of cancer Tuesday, April 21, at the University of Nebraska Hospital in Omaha, Neb.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at Pence Funeral Home in Newton with Pastor Walt Claussen of the Kellogg Christian Church officiating. Burial will be at Newton Memorial Park Cemetery.

Friends may call Friday from 10:30 until 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials will be accepted in her name.

The daughter of William Eston and Lucille Teresa Peercy-Jones, she was born July 3, 1953, in Des Moines. She was a graduate of the Lynnville-Sully High School and attended Des Moines Area Community College and Iowa State University in Ames. She married Willie Nevels in March 1987 in Omaha, Neb. She was an LP.N. and worked in many nursing homes in the Newton area and worked in Home Care for the State of Iowa. She was a member of the Kellogg Christian Church and had attended Newton Baptist Temple in past years.

Survivors include two brothers and sisters-in-law, Keith and Sue Jones and Clyde and Donna Jones, all of Newton; a sister, Judy Montgomery of Newton; and her mother, Lucille Jones of Killduff.

She was preceded in death by her father, a son, Jason Alan Jones and her first husband.
