The funeral for F. R. Bennett was held today at the United Presbyterian Church in Palo Alto and the interment was made in the cemetery near by.

Mr. Bennett was born Jan. 16, 1865, in this county. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Bennett. In 1892, March 9th, he was united in marriage to Miss Belle Fleming. He was one of the progressive farmers of this county. After receiving a common school education he attended school at Toledo and also was a student in the commercial college at Omaha.

Mr. Bennett has filled several positions of trust in his township and has always held the respect of neighbors and friends.

Besides his wife, he leaves two sisters, Mrs. Ida M. Swigart and Mrs. Elma Fleming, who live southwest of Newton, and three brothers, Isaac M. Bennett of this city, Charles W. Bennett of Greenfield, Ia., and S. O. Bennett of Carrolton, Washington.

The funeral was attended by a large number of friends and neighbors. The singers were Mesdames Vena Wilcox, Hattie Thompson and Messers Merritt Charlesworth and George Shelly. The bearers were Merritt Charlesworth, Geo. Shelly, Missleu Harlan, James Baird, Charles Eggert and William Charlesworth.
