L. Ardelle Woody, 94, of 200 S. 8th Ave, E. died of heart failure Saturday, March 15, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton with Pastor David Smiley of the First Baptist Church in Newton officiating. Burial will be at Palo Alto Cemetery in rural Newton.

Friends may call after 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. The family will greet friends from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service. Memorials will be accepted to Hospice of Jasper County and may be left at the funeral home.

The daughter of Harry and Maude (Danks) Woody, she was born June 10, 1908, in rural Newton. She attended Jasper County Schools. She was a cook for many years at Mason's Cafe in Newton. Ms. Woody was a member of the First Baptist Church in Newton.

Survivors include two sisters-in-law, Gladys Woody and Aletha Woody, both of Newton, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers.
