CHARITON - Josephine White, 72, of Chariton, formerly of Newton, died of multiple renal failure Wednesday, Feb. 12, at Mercy Hospice in Chariton.

Funeral services were held Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Chariton. Burial was at Chariton Cemetery. Mosher Funeral Home in Chariton handled arrangements.

Memorials will be accepted to the American Cancer Society, First Baptist Church or the Assembly of God Church, both in Chariton.

She was born in Knoxville and lived in Newton and Monett, Mo., before moving to Chariton 15 years ago. She married Merlin White and was a homemaker.

Mrs. White was a member of Ruth Circle of the First Baptist Church, Morning Writer's Club and was a deacon of the First Baptist Church in Chariton. She wrote and published poetry, enjoyed crafts and was a Bible schoolteacher. She also enjoyed missionary work.

Survivors include a son, Allen White of Kellogg; three daughters, Merla White of Neosho, Mo., Peggy Randall of Chariton and Von Rosenbalm of Monett, Mo.; 11 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and a sister, Louise Nichols of Chariton.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
