Arlene F. Madoll-Verwers, 86, of 305 E. 17th St. N. died of congestive heart failure, Monday, March 17, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.

Graveside services will be held Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at Newton Union Cemetery with the Rev. Ed Aubuchon, pastor of the First Assembly of God Church, officiating. Pence Funeral Home in Newton is handling arrangements.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home where the family will be available. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials in her name.

The daughter of Oscar Rose and Mary Anderson, she was born Feb. 1, 1917, in Kellogg. She was a graduate of Kellogg High School. In June 1937, she married James "Bud" Madoll in Kellogg. She later married Ben Verwers in 1977. Mrs. Madoll-Verwers was a general laborer at Winpower in Newton and was a member of the First Assembly of God Church. She enjoyed playing the piano.

Survivors include a daughter, Mary Creech of Newton; a stepson, Don Verwers of Las Vegas, Nev.; two stepdaughters, Saundra Backus of St. Louis, Mo., and Betty Fry of Altoona; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Rhoda Whisenand, Tustin, Calif.

She was preceded in death by both husbands and a daughter, Dorothy Madoll.
