Woman 74, Colfax, Dies
Mrs. John Wheatcraft Fractured Hip in Fall Four Weeks Ago
Colfax, Ia. (Special to The Daily News) – Mrs. John Wheatcraft, 75, who fractured her hip in a fall four weeks ago, died at her home northeast of Colfax Saturday evening at 9 o’clock.
She was a patient in the Skiff Memorial Hospital three weeks and was released a week ago.
Mrs. Wheatcraft had been a resident of the Colfax community the past 55 years and prior to that resided east of Newton. Previous to her marriage, she was Miss Eliza Listen.
Surviving are the husband, a daughter, Mrs. Nora Gearhart of Reasnor and four grandchildren, Billy Wheatcraft of U. S. Navy, Norfolk, Va., Wayne of Colfax, Mrs. Wayne Wheeler of Newton, Francis of Newton and also three great-grandchildren.
She was a member of the Christian church at Ira.
Funeral arrangements are being delayed pending word from the grandson in Virginia.
A son Earl preceded her in death two years ago.
