Mrs. Toedt Dies Sunday
Funeral services for Mrs. Richard Toedt, 47, of Manhattan, Kan., were conducted Sunday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. at the First Methodist church. L. B. Logan was in charge. Interment was in the Newton Union cemetery.
Pallbearers were M. G. Addicks, W. L. Aillaud, R. W. Denniston, H. M. Finch, Ray Whittaker and N. W. Keith.
Flowers were arranged by Mrs. Henry Zirbel, Mrs. U. s. Townsend, Mrs. Will Aillaud and Mrs. Lewis Johnson.
Gretchen Boese, accompanied by Lois Hundling sang “Home of the Soul” and “In My Father’s House Are Many Mansions” (MacDermid).
Funeral services were held in Newton because here had been her home until two and one-half years ago when the family moved to Kansas.
She was a member of the First Methodist church, O.E.S., Needlework Guild, English tea club, Chat-a-Bit club and of the T.E.C. club.
Mrs. Toedt gave freely of her time to the P.T.A. where she was president of Washington association for two years, council president in 1933, and vice-president of the central district in 1935. She was chairman of the Christmas Seal sale in 1932 and headed the Happy Hearts in 1934.
Prior to her marriage she was known as Violet Guthrie, instructor in the Newton schools.
Surviving are her husband, two daughters, Mary Martha, 17, and Helen Grace, 15, her brother, Chester Guthrie, of Manhattan, Kan., and a sister, Grace, in California.
