Mrs. Mary Straughan, of New Sharon, Ia., sister of three Newton women – Mrs. Minnie Grimes, Lottie Tice and Mrs. O. L. McAuley – died in a hospital in Oskaloosa Sunday following a critical illness. She had been a patient at the hospital since Jan. 2.
Miss Tice and Mrs. McAuley had been at the bedside and Mrs. Grimes left for New Sharon this morning.
Mrs. Straughan, over 80 years old, is survived by seven sisters and a brother. Her husband and two brothers preceded her in death.

Mrs. Straughan Rites Wednesday
Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Straughan of New Sharon, Ia., sister of three Newton women will be conducted Wednesday at 1:30 o’clock at the Christian church at New Sharon. Interment will be in New Sharon.
