Hold Rites for R. D. Stinson
Funeral services for Raymond D. Stinson, 50, were conducted Monday afternoon at the Murdoch Funeral home by Rev. Frank M. Blish.
Pallbearers were E. Conine, Harold Marshall, Jack Petted, Ollie Nelson, Walter Hekt and Horace Rederus. Interment was in the Newton Union cemetery.
Mrs. Maurice Rodgers, accompanied by Mrs. R. C. Jackson, sang “Old Rugged Cross” and “No Night There.”
Raymond D. Stinson was born Sept. 10, 1890 on a farm three miles southeast of Baxter. He spent the greater part of his life on the farm on which he was born, moving to Newton in 1918.
He was a veteran of the World War. Upon his return from the army he was employed at the Iowa mercantile company for about nine years. After leaving the Iowa mercantile company, he was engaged in farming for about nine years, retiring two years ago on account of ill health.
He entered the Veterans hospital at Hines, Ill., Sept. 30 1940 where he passed away Dec. 27, 1940.
Surviving is one sister, Mrs. John Whittaker of Newton. He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Sarah Stinson and one sister and one brother.
