Malaka (Special to The Daily News) – Sophia E. Meier was _(text missing)_ near Haverhill Iowa, on March 19, 1941 at the age of 66 years, 1 month and 21 days.
She was baptized in infancy and was confirmed in St. John’s Evangelical church near Haverhill, Ia., of which she was a member. On May 1, 1895 she was married to August Otte. To this union five children were born. Twin girls died in infancy.
Mr. and Mrs. Otte made their home near Haverhill for many years. In 1919 they moved to Sargent, Minn., returning to the old home in 1923. In the fall of 1937 they moved to Marshalltown, which has since been their home.
Surviving are: her husband of Marshalltown; 3 sons, Rev. Elmer of Mapleton, Ia., Lawrence and Harold, both of Marshalltown; three daughters-in-law; five grandchildren; two brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services were held March 21, from Pursel Funeral home and St. John’s Evangelical church at Haverhill, with Rev. A. L. Brueggemann and Rev. Fred J. Sisi officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.
