Arleen M. Pulver, 80, of Newton died Monday, March 17, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton with the Rev. Stephen Mathison-Bowie of the First Presbyterian Church in Newton officiating. The body will be cremated following the service.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. Friday until the time of the service. There will be a coffee time immediately following the service for family and friends at the funeral home. Memorials will be accepted to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society - Iowa Chapter and may be left at the funeral home.

The daughter of Arlie T. and Evelyn L. (Bergren) Smith, she was born Dec. 2, 1922, in Manchester. She was a graduate of Manchester High School. On Feb. 14, 1944, she married Fred J. Pulver in Manchester. She was a homemaker and caregiver and a member of the First Presbyterian Church and was involved with the Women's Circle at the church. She has been a resident of Newton since the mid-1940s.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Brett and Paula Pulver of Belton, Mo.; a daughter and son-in-law, Pamela and Ralph Meeker of Naperville, Ill.; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Leland and Leola Smith of Jefferson, Gordon and Gerry Smith of Des Moines and Carter and Myrna Smith of Cedar Rapids; and a sister and brother-in-law, Wanda and Don Mullan of Des Moines.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
