Rites Today for Colfax Woman, Mrs. Maloney
Colfax, Ia. (Special to The Daily News) – Mrs. Metta Maloney, 48, died about 2 o’clock Saturday at the University of Iowa hospital at Iowa City. She had been a patient there for two months suffering with a malignant disease.
Funeral services were to be conducted this afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Colfax Methodist Church. Burial was to be in the family lot in the Colfax cemetery.
Mrs. Maloney was a member of the Methodist church and of the memorial club.
Although she was born at Baxter, Ia., she had spent most of her life in the Colfax neighborhood.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Clifford Gullette of near Newton, two grandchildren, a brother, Rett Robbins of Newton and two sisters, Mrs. Frank Hybl and Mrs. Ed Bollhoefer, both of Colfax.

Colfax, Ia. (Special to The Daily News) – Metta Cecelia Robbins, daughter of James A. and Mollie West Robbins was born in Baxter, Ia., Feb. 4, 1893 and died at the State University hospital at Iowa City, Feb. 8, 1941, at the age of 18 years. Most of her life was spent in Colfax. However, for the past 10 months she made her home in Newton.
She was an active member of the Methodist church and the Memorial club.
She was united in marriage to J. B. Maloney in 1914. To this union two daughters were born, Gertrude Maxine, who die in infancy and Bernice (Mrs. Clifford Gullette) who survives her.
She leaves to mourn her sudden passing her daughter, two grandchildren, Dennis and Janice Gullette of Newton; two sisters, Mrs. Frank Hybl and Mrs. Ed Bollhoefer of Colfax; one brother, J. Rett Robbins of Newton; an aunt, Mrs. Adella Weaver of San Bernardino, Calif.; an uncle, Frank B. West of Colfax and several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, Feb. 10, 1941, at the Methodist church in Colfax with the Rev. W. M. Doughty officiating.
Music was furnished by John A. Davis, Mrs. George Rinker, Mrs. Earl Plummer and B. F. Van Dyke accompanied by Miss Eleanor Howell.
Pallbearers were J. F. Salisbury, Frank Evans, Tom Hughes, George Halliwell, Ivan Smith and R. L. Miller.
Members of the Memorial club had charge of the flowers.
Burial was in the Highland cemetery of Colfax.
