Woman, 85, Baxter, Dies
Mrs. Emma Henneman Celebrated Birthday March 2; Ill A Week Later
Baxter, Ia. (Special to The Daily News) – Mrs. Emma Henneman, 85, died Thursday evening at her home in Baxter, where she had been a resident the past 28 years.
Mrs. Henneman had lived in the Baxter community more than 50 years.
She was born in Sheffield, Ill., March 2, 1856, and came to Iowa when but 12 years old.
She celebrated her 85th birthday March 2 at open house of her home and the following week took ill. She was a patient at the Skiff Memorial Hospital at Newton until last Saturday, when she returned home.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Oscar Perry of west of Baxter, 10 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, a son and a daughter.

Baxter, Ia. (Special to The Daily News) – Emma Jane Brainard, daughter of Van and Minerva Brainard was born at Sheffield, Ill., March 2, 1856, and passed away March 20, 1941, at the age of 85 years and 18 days.
At the age of 12 years she moved to Iowa and this state has been her home ever since. She was united in marriage to William Hennaman and to this union four children were born. Three children preceded her in death. They were Eva, Lee and Minerva. Mr. Hennaman died 24 years ago and a half-brother, Orvin Albery died last June.
She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Oscar Perry of Baxter, one half-brother Henry Albery of Nevada, Ia., 10 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Hennaman had lived in Baxter the last twenty-eight years. In 1924 she united with the Congregational church of this place.
About a month ago she was taken seriously ill and was taken to the Skiff Memorial Hospital in Newton where she remained for nine days.
Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon at the Congregational church in Baxter with Rev. D. E. Arnold in charge.
Music was furnished by Mrs. Cecil Weeks and Mrs. Arthur Dodd with Mrs. E. J Goodwin, pianist. Songs used were “The Old Rugged Cross”, “There’ll be no Tears in Paradise” and “Ivory Palaces”.
Pallbearers were James McKenzie, Rupert Wastier, Ed Meyer, Cecil Weeks, Loftus Early and Smith Seeley.
Floral arrangements were by Mrs. John Boyd, Mrs. James McKenzie and Lester Perry.
Burial was in Restland cemetery.
