DES MOINES – Garry W. Kerr, 46, of Des Moines, formerly of Colfax, died Monday March 3, at his home.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m. at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell. Burial will be at Hazelwood Cemetery in Grinnell.

Friends may call after noon Thursday at the funeral home, where the family will be available from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials will be accepted to the Garry Kerr Memorial Fund.

The son of Francis and Ardith (Byers) Kerr, he was born Jan. 9, 1957, in Grinnell. He attended Grinnell schools. Following his education, he served in the United States Army.

He married Ruth Kintz in Montezuma and lived in Colfax. The marriage ended in divorce and he was later married to Rhonda (Ebert) Bair. The couple lived in Grinnell, where he worked at the Donaldson Company and for the Wenco Company. He later moved to Des Moines. He was a member of the National Arbor Foundation and the North American Fishing Club.

Survivors include his father, Francis Kerr Sr. of Grinnell; five sisters, Judith Meythaler of Centerville, Linda Kerr of Grinnell, Eileen Kerr of Des Moines, Theresa A. Wallace of Grinnell and Rhonda J. Foster of Altoona; four brothers, Francis M. Kerr Jr. of Grinnell, James L. Kerr of Grinnell, Brian E. Kerr of O'Fallon, Mo., and Ronald Kerr of Grinnell; one step-daughter; and three step grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his mother and a brother.
