SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Jim Kimler, 71, of Springfield, Mo., formerly of Newton, died Wednesday, March 26, at Cox South in Springfield.

Graveside services with Elk's Rites will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Springfield National Cemetery with the Rev. Joe Crews officiating. Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel in Springfield, Mo., is handling arrangements.

Friends may call today at the funeral home from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Memorials will be accepted to the American Cancer Society, 3322 South Campbell, Suite R, Springfield, Mo. 65807.

The son of Homer Albert and Stella May (Sallaway) Kimler, he was born March 21, 1932, in Newton. Following high school, he graduated from Drake University in Des Moines. He married Constance Joan Wensel on June 30, 1973. Mr. Kimler became a resident of Springfield in 1977 and was employed by Great Southern Bank. He was a past-exalted ruler of Elk's Lodge No. 409, a member of Schweitzer United Methodist Church and was an avid horticulturist.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Jim Kimler of Republic, Mo., and Matt Graif of Springfield, Mo.; a daughter and son-in-law, Patti and Kent Sivils of Rogersville, Mo.; a brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Minnie Mae Kimler of La Place, La.; and four grandchildren.
