CHICAGO, Ill. - Violet (Davies Doane) Kelly, 76, of Chicago, Ill., formerly of Newton, died of cancer Wednesday, April 2, in Chateau Rest Home in Chicago.

A memorial graveside service will be held Friday at 9:30 a.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Fred Redhead, pastor of Mitchellville Assembly of God Church, officiating. Pence Funeral Home in Newton is handling arrangements.

There will be no visitation. Memorials will be accepted in her name.

The daughter of John and Edna Davies, she was born Aug. 7, 1926, in Corydon. She married John J. Kelly in 1979 in Confidence. She was a secretary and worked for the public school system for 35 years. Mrs. Kelly enjoyed gardening.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Peggy and Clifford Stewart of Ft. Wayne, Ind., and Debra and Tom Barsanti of Chicago, Ill.; and a brother, Raymond Davies of Ira.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
