LARKSPUR, Colo. - Ronald M. Jones, 62, of Larkspur, Colo., formerly of Jasper County, died of cancer Tuesday, April 1, at Castle Rock Care Center in Castle Rock, Colo.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on today at the Florissant Cemetery.

The son of Carl Roy and Dorothy Irene (Dean) Jones, he was born March 28, 1941, at their home in Osceola.

He served in the United States Navy from 1959 to 1963. He had served some time aboard the U.S.S. Edson. He worked at Firestone in Des Moines for a number of years as a mechanic before quitting to farm full-time.

In 1988, he became a truck driver and has driven for various companies in Iowa and Colorado. Mr. Jones' hobbies included camping, fishing, hunting, working with leather, traveling and going to auctions. He loved to do anything outdoors.

He is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Troy Jones of San Diego, Calif., and David and Michele Jones of Florissant, Colo.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Cindy and Kenny Kraft of Rockwell City and Darcy and Rodney Schoenherr of Gilbert; a sister and brother-in-law, Georgia and Buck Carson of Osceola; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Harold and Luella Jones of New Virginia, Kenneth and Janice Jones of Ackworth and Ardith and Carmen Jones of Osceola; six grandchildren; and his companion, Sheryl Jones of Larkspur, Colo.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, JoAnn Root.
