Wilma M. Emery, 78, of 1119 1st St. N. died of congestive heart failure Thursday, Feb. 20, at Baxter Healthcare Center in Baxter.

Funeral services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Pence Funeral Home in Newton with the Rev. David Rex, pastor of the Metz Church in rural Newton officiating. Burial will be at Newton Union Cemetery.

Friends may call from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home where the family will be available. Memorials will be accepted in her name.

The daughter of Oscar Raymond and Emma M. (Couper) Reichel, she was born Sept. 22, 1924, in Underwood. On Dec. 19, 1940, she married William O. Vaughn in southern Iowa. She later
married Jack Avery Emery on Dec. 15, 1957, in Missouri. She was a homemaker and worked at the Copper Kettle in Colfax and the Pizza House in Newton. She attended the Church of God in Newton and was a resident of Newton since 1957.

Survivors include her husband, Jack of Baxter; three sons, Winifield "Billey" Vaughn of Mansfield, Mo., Gerald Boyd Vaughn of Overton, Mo., and George A. Emery of Newton; two daughters, Lillian Kaye Corbett and Rhonda S. Emery, both of Newton; 15 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three sisters, Virginia Lowe, Mabel Peterson and Ann Peterson, all of Missouri; and three brothers, Harry Peterson of Newton, Paul Peterson of Arizona and Bill Peterson of Missouri.

She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, a daughter and a brother.
