MONROE - Keith Burchett, 75, of Monroe died of lung cancer Tuesday, March 25, at his daughter's home in Newton.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the Pence Funeral Home in Newton. Burial will be at Newton Union Cemetery in Newton.

Friends may call after 9 a.m. Friday at the funeral home where the family will be available from 7 to 8:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials will be accepted in his name to Camp Sunnyside or Big Brothers Big Sisters.

The son of Hugh Burchett and Gladys (Addamson) Reynolds, he was born July 26, 1927, in Mt. Ayr. He graduated from Mt. Ayr High School in 1946 and served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.

On Sept. 5, 1953, he married Winona Lee Hoyt in Ottumwa. Mr. Burchett worked as a swing shift manager for Hy-Vee Food Stores and was a member of the American Legion and the VFW. He enjoyed horses, the outdoors, camping and dancing. He was a resident of Monroe, Newton, Webster City, Brooklyn and Ottumwa.

Survivors include two daughters, Vicky Hilpipre of Brooklyn and Patricia Grayson of Newton; 12 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Cleola Geist of Mt. Ayr and Betty Powers of Kellerton.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two sons, Lonny and Michael, and a brother, Bill.
