Mrs. Geo. Hanson Pioneer Mingo Woman Dies
Mrs. Edna Hanson, about 84 years of age passed away at 12:30 a. m. this morning at her home near Mingo. Mrs. Hanson was a sister-in-law of the late Sam S. Hanson of Nevada and has several relatives here who survive her. She had been in ill health for some time and was confined to her bed the past five weeks.
Mrs. Hanson is survived by one daughter Grace, Mrs. Charles Kimberley of near Collins; two sons, Hollis and James of near Mingo. She made her home with her son Hollis and his wife who live on the farm that has been in the family for many years. She is also survived b a sister, Mrs. E. A. Parker of Newton, a brother Frank Rippey of Ira and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Hanson, two sons Harold and Lars and one daughter Lois.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 Friday afternoon at the Ashton Chapel southeast of Collins and burial in the Aston cemetery beside her husband.
The George Hanson family are pioneers in the Mingo community having extensive real estate and banking holdings. They were members of the Ashton Chapel and contributed largely to the Chapel and cemetery which was named in honor of Mr. Hanson’s mother whose maiden name was Ashton.
