Mike Biery, 34 Dies of Heart Attack Sunday
Gerald Dean “Mike” Biery, 34, of rural route Collins, died Sunday from a heart attack suffered while grinding corn at a farm south of Collins.
Funeral services will be at the Ashton Chapel Church six miles west of Baxter at 2 p. m. Wednesday. Rev. Robert Hinshaw will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the Boyd-Nickell Funeral Home at Baxter after 9 a. m. Tuesday.
Survivors are his wife Gay Myrtle, two sons, Tony Eugene and John Paul, and one daughter, Debra Ann, all at home.
Also surviving are two brothers, Donald of Paullina and Ronald of Cedar Rapids; two sisters, Mrs. Roy (Betty) Smith of Spirit Lake and Mrs. Conrad (JoAnn) Cleghorn of Winterset; and his stepmother, Mrs. Florence Biery of Sanborn.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Biery was born July 21, 1934 in Oldham, South Dakota to John and Menelva Biery. He was educated in the South Dakota and Primghar (Iowa) schools and served in the U. S. Navy in 1952.
He was a farm laborer on farms south of Collins until his marriage to Gay Myrtle Hudson on June 25, 1961. They lived six miles west of Baxter and he had been employed at the Armstrong Rubber Co. in Des Moines since their marriage. He was a member of the United Rubber Workers of America local 164 in Des Moines.

Services Today For Mike Biery
Funeral services were held this afternoon (Wednesday) at Ashton Chapel Church for Gerald “Mike” Biery, 34, of Collins.
Biery died of heart failure while grinding corn on a farm south of Collins Sunday.
The Rev. Robert Hinshaw officiated. Pallbearers were Ralph, Forrest and Leon Maxwell, Edgar Porter, Jim Nichol and Joseph Peters. Mrs. John Cleverley was soloist, Mrs. Rodney Altes pianist. In charge of flowers were Mrs. Ralph Maxwell, Mrs. Forrest Maxwell, Mrs. Hale Nickell. Burial was in the Ashton Chapel Cemetery.
Boyd-Nickell Funeral Home, Baxter, was in charge.
