COLFAX — William "Bill" Snetselaar, 85, of Colfax died Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2005, at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines.

Burial will take place at 10 a.m. at the Colfax Cemetery on Saturday. Following the burial, a service of remembrance is scheduled at 11 a.m. at the Colfax First United Methodist Church, with a time of food and fellowship following.

Visitation will be held today from 2 to 8 p.m. at Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax, where the family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be given to the Colfax First United Methodist Church.

The son of Barney and Dena (Resort) Snetselaar, he was born May 14, 1920, in Prairie City. He attended schools in the Prairie City area and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Following his time in the service, he married Anna Orlich in Colfax.

He enjoyed farming and had a grain shelling business. He was the owner and mechanic at the Shell Station in Colfax. He also worked for The Vernon Company and Maytag before retiring in 1982. He was a member of the Colfax First United Methodist Church, U.A.W. Local No. 997 and the American Legion.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Judy Snetselaar of Webster City; a sister, June (Jack) Nash of Minneapolis, Minn.; a brother-in-law, Eli Orlich of Colfax; nieces and nephews; and a special family friend, David Pratt.

Preceding him in death were his parents, four brothers and five sisters.
