GILMAN — Danny Ray Johnson, 42, of Gilman died Thursday, Sept. 14, 2005, on a farm in rural Gilman.

Private family services were held at Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton with Chaplain Merle Smith officiating.

Memorials in his name may be left at the funeral home.

The son of Thomas and LaVon (Reginald) Johnson, he was born Jan. 7, 1963, in Kirksville, Mo. He graduated from Baxter High School in 1981. He was a farmhand and grew up in Baxter and lived in Gilman for the past two years. He served in the U.S. Army and was in the Special Forces, serving in Beirut. He enjoyed farming and camping with his children and brother.

Survivors include a son, Anthony (Jessica) Johnson of Marshalltown; two daughters, Nicole "Nikki" Johnson and Katie Johnson, both of Marshalltown; his parents, of Newton; a sister, Carletta Crotty of Britt; and a brother, Brian Johnson of Denton, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Thomas and Ola Johnson, and his maternal grandparents, Quillah and Doris Regnold.
