Clara P. Foss, 74, of Newton died Monday, Sept. 19, 2005, at USA Healthcare — Newton.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery in Newton. The body has been cremated. Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton is handling arrangements.

No visitation is scheduled. Memorials in her name may be left at the funeral home.

The daughter of Stephen and Aubrey (Neal) Jaennette, she was born Sept. 5, 1931, in Newton. She graduated from North High School in Des Moines. While in high school, she was a member of North High School jump roping team and synchronized swimming team. She formerly worked as a candy striper at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines.

On Sept. 22, 1949, she married Nils Foss in Moline, Ill. She was a homemaker and enjoyed painting and cooking. She was a resident of Polk County for most of her life.

Survivors include three sons, Michael Jaennette of Pioneer, Calif., Ron (Julie) Jaennette of Ione, Calif., and Eugene Foss of Norwalk, Calif.; two daughters, Linda (Matthew) Olson of LaCrescent, Minn., and Cathy Powers of Marion; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; five sisters, Ruth (Charles Oldbear) Buffalo of Tama, Marianne Meek of Mesa, Ariz., Jane Williams of Lakeside, Calif., JoAnn Headley of Claremont, Calif., and Marilyn Musser of Gardnerville, Nev.; and a brother, Robert Jaennette of Riverside, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, five brothers, two sisters and a daughter, Penny Foss.
